55-year-old Jarna Rani Das, from Bangladesh, was diagnosed with mature cataract in her left eye by one of Sightsavers’ partners.
She found it very hard to get around and needed help from her family to walk and cook. Married with five children, Jarna was finding it difficult to cope.
Jarna’s operation lasted around 20 minutes under local anaesthesia.
The following day Jarna’s bandages were removed and slowly her eye started to focus.
Jarna's sight was restored and she was absolutely relieved and delighted.
"I'm incredibly happy. I'll be able to do things for myself again," says Jarna
