Education is a way out of poverty, but it’s hard to learn when you haven’t got the right materials.

The gift of a Perkins Brailler will enable children who are blind to use Braille to help them learn alongside their sighted classmates.

The Perkins Brailler is a Braille typewriter with a key corresponding to each of the six dots. By simultaneously pressing different combinations of the six keys, users can create any of the characters in the Braille code.

Cedric lost his sight due to cancer of the retina. When he was just one and a half years old he had to have his right eye removed. A year later, his left eye was also removed.

His father has been a great inspiration, reading Cedric stories about people with disabilities who had accomplished great things. When he was four, Cedric began attending a school for blind children where he has learnt to read and write Braille.

Mathematics is Cedric’s favourite subject and he enjoys playing the keyboard as a hobby.
