A cataract operation can be life changing.

After surgery lasting just a few minutes, someone who thought they would never see again can regain their sight - and their independence.

Juldeh had been blind for over a year due to cataract in both eyes. She had to stop work and had become reliant on the generosity of relatives.

Now, thanks to a cataract operation, Juldeh has had her sight restored.

Sohel had been having problems with his vision for over 15 years before attending a screening camp held by one of Sightsavers’ partners. There he was diagnosed with cataract.

As a self employed carpenter, Sohel had found it difficult to support his wife and three children since his sight started deteriorating. He could not see well enough to work safely with his tools.

After his cataract operation Sohel returned to work with renewed vigour, his prospects for a better life greatly improved.
