Sightsavers has been working in Bangladesh since 1973, bringing eye care within reach of some of its poorest communities.

Last year alone, we supported over 64,000 cataract operations and dispensed over 172,000 pairs of glasses.

As well as assisting with our rehabilitation and education work, your gift could also help provide treatment that can prevent sight loss or surgery that can restore the sight of people like Sorufa, who recently had a cataract operation.

Imon was born with severe sight problems due to cataract in both eyes.

His parents could not afford to pay for medical treatment but luckily, when he was six years old, Imon was identified by one of Sightsavers’ partners and given a free cataract operation.

Now Imon’s sight is fully restored, he is enrolled in school and getting an education that will give him the best possible chance of a bright future.
